Batumi Dolphinarium

When visiting Batumi, you should definitely visit the Dolphinarium. It is one of the favorite places of visitors, where it is always crowd and clamour. Here you can see an amazing performance of dolphins. Kako, Monica, Zoro, Maya, Bellucci, Nini, Tsitsi and her daughter Olympia will take care of creating your mood. They present up to 30 exciting tricks, dancing, playing with rings and balls, balancing on the tail, and many impressive tricks.

Dolphinarium is a building of modern design that meets all the latest requirements for keeping animals of marine life in artificial conditions. Batumi Aquarium was opened on August 20, 1966. Due to the difficult political and economic situation in the country in the early 1990s, the facility ceased to function. After a 20-year pause, it was reopened on May 6, 2011 at the initiative of the City Hall and became a business card of Batumi.

The dolphinarium originally featured fin-footed mammals of northern part of Pacific Ocean, expensive-fur otters, and seals of Caspian Sea. Visitors were particularly impressed by the giant turtle – the Indian Ocean Inhabitant – “Trsu Kareta”, which weighed about 100 kg. The variety of decorative fish amazed the visitors. The aquarium was home to about 60 species of freshwater, various sea and ocean animals. Currently, some representatives of the inhabitants of the Black Sea, Georgian freshwater, up to 100 species of decorative fish are represented, such as: sea cat, sea fox, sea urchin, cephalopod, horsefish, Mullus, shi drum and other unique species of fish. Among the exotic species are the Amazon-dwelling piranha, cichlids, Southeast Asian fish – guram, barbus, botia, labeo and beautiful discus. It is impossible not to feel special love when visiting this place and seeing these inhabitants.
